This is one of the true gems of Rockford. It’s location to the downtown along the Rock River in historic Blackhawk Park is fantastic. I’d rather watch games here than the modern stadium on the east side. My dad took me to games here to see the Expos, Royals and Cubbies. I got a foul ball. I really hope with the revitalization of downtown the Park District restore this once magnificent ballpark. I believe baseball will make a comeback. Last few years I spent a lot of time in the Rockford Park District parks and the history and potential they hold are fantastic. I really hope the parks return to their glory days. I’d love to see more BBQ grills, picnic tables and maybe even some community fire pits and more movies in the parks. I always thought how cool it would be for the Park District to hold neighborhood appreciation cookouts with hotdogs, brats, with live music and engage with the community. Would be really cool. Also maybe convert sportcore 1 into a campground. Rockford has no camping area in the city limits. It would be a huge hit. Camping is such a popular activity right now. Lots of fishing and boating opportunities, multiple bathrooms and concessions already on site and bike

You may take off there and kayak down river. Nice parking, easy access.

I love playing here. It's a great field but the place is run down and they are not keeping up with the maintenance. The parking lot is filled with weeds and the field lights need painting. The field itself is fine and is a great place to play baseball.

I had the pleasure of playing here for a women's baseball team a few years back. It was cool to imagine the field back in the day with the games and fans . Area is so run down now, sad.

Grass was not cut! Not enough garbage bins! Needs better upkeep immediately! !
